“Exciton states and magnetooptical transitions in stacks of InGaAs/GaAs self-assembled quantum rings”. Tadić, M, Peeters FM, AIP conference proceedings 893, 851 (2007)
Abstract: Electron, hole, and exciton states in the stacks composed of three strained (InGa)As quantum rings were computed. We found considerable influence of strain on both the single particle and exciton spectra, while the oscillator strength for exciton recombination is reduced by the magnetic field.

Abstract: Carbon nitride nanospheres have been synthesized into copper by simultaneous high fluence (10(18) at. cm(-2)) implantations of C-12 and N-15 ions. The composition of the implanted region has been measured using C-12(d,p(0))C-13 and N-15(d,alpha(0))C-13 nuclear reactions induced by a 1.05 MeV deuteron beam. The C-12 and N-15 depth profiles are very close and the retained doses into copper are relatively high, which indicates that carbon and nitrogen diffusion processes are likely limited during implantation. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) observations and electron diffraction (ED) analyses have been carried out to determine the structure of the nanospheres formed during implantation. Some consist in small hollow amorphous nanocapsules with sizes ranging from 30 to 100 nm. Large gas bubbles with diameters up to 300 mn have also been observed in the copper matrix. Electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) measurements performed on the small nanocapsules indicate that their shells are composed of carbon and nitrogen. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

“Generalized Galitskii approach for the vertex function of a Fermi gas with resonant interaction”. Vagov A, Schomerus H, Shanenko A, Physical review : B : condensed matter and materials physics 76, 214513 (2007). http://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevB.76.214513
Abstract: We present a generalized Galitskii approach for the Bethe-Salpeter equation for the two-particle vertex function of a Fermi system with the resonant interaction by accounting for the resonant state in the scattering potential and utilizing the universal form of the resonant scattering amplitude. The procedure can be carried out both for the normal as well as for the condensate state. In both cases, the vertex function in the vicinity of the resonance is shown to formally coincide with that obtained for a weakly attractive Fermi gas. Thus we justify the popular calculational framework in which results for the weakly attractive Fermi gas are formally extrapolated into the domain of strong coupling, and further to the repulsive side of the resonance, where molecular states are formed.

Abstract: We investigate the properties of carriers in graphene-based quantum wires created by potential barriers, by means of analytical and numerical calculations. We obtain expressions for the energy spectrum as a function of barrier height, well width and linear momentum along the wire. The results demonstrate a direction-dependent resonant transmission across the potential well.

Abstract: Laser-induced plasmas are transient systems rapidly aging in few nanoseconds of evolution. Time-of-flight spectrometry allowed studying initial plasma characteristics based on frozen translational degrees of freedom, hence overcoming intrinsic limitations of optical spectroscopy. Experimental ion velocity distributions were reconstructed as developed during the longitudinal plasma expansion. The obtained onset plasma temperatures are in the range of similar to 18-45 eV depending on the ablated metals. Also the ion angular spreads were found to be a function of ablated metal, e.g., the narrowest for Fe, the broadest for Al, due to different collisional coupling in the plasma population.
