“New insights in the formation of combined zeolitic/mesoporous materials by using a one-pot templating synthesis”. Vernimmen J, Meynen V, Herregods SJF, Mertens M, Lebedev OI, Van Tendeloo G, Cool P, European journal of inorganic chemistry , 4234 (2011). http://doi.org/10.1002/ejic.201100268
Abstract: Zeolitic growth is often absent or occurs in separate phases when synthetic strategies based on the combination of zeolite templates and mesopore templating agents are applied. In this work, zeolitic growth and mesopore formation have been investigated at different temperatures by applying a one-pot templating approach, based on a TS-1 zeolite synthesis whereby part of the microtemplate (tetrapropylammonium hydroxide, TPAOH) is replaced by a mesotemplate (hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTMABr). Moreover, the synthesis duration and the molar ratio of the microtemplate/mesotemplate have also been studied. The different syntheses clearly show the inherent competitive mechanism between zeolitic growth and mesopore formation. These insights have led to the conclusion that by following a one-pot templating strategy with standard, nonexotic commercial templates, i.e. CTMABr and TPAOH, it is not possible to develop a true hierarchical mesoporous zeolite, meaning a mesoporous siliceous material with highly crystalline zeolitic walls. The resultant materials are instead combined zeolitic/mesoporous composite structures with, however, highly tuneable and controllable porosity characteristics.

“A new method to calculate leakage current and its applications for sub-45nm MOSFETs”. Lujan GS, Magnus W, Soree B, Pourghaderi MA, Veloso A, van Dal MJH, Lauwers A, Kubicek S, De Gendt S, Heyns M, De Meyer K, Solid-State Device Research (ESSDERC), European Conference
T2 – ESSDERC 2005 : proceedings of 35th European Solid-State Device Research Conference, September 12-16, 2005, Grenoble, France. Ieee, S.l., page 489 (2005).
Abstract: This paper proposes a new quantum mechanical model for the calculation of leakage currents. The model incorporates both variational calculus and the transfer matrix method to compute the subband energies and the life times of the inversion layer states. The use of variational calculus simplifies the subband energy calculation due to the analytical firm of the wave functions, which offers an attractive perspective towards the calculation of the electron mobility in the channel. The model can be extended to high-k dielectrics with several layers. Good agreement between experimental data and simulation results is obtained for metal gate capacitors.

“A new Bi4Mn1/3W2/3O8Cl Sillén-Aurivillius intergrowth: synthesis and structural characterisation by quantitative transmission electron microscopy”. Avila-Brande D, Otero-Díaz LC, Landa-Cánovas AR, Bals S, Van Tendeloo G, European journal of inorganic chemistry , 1853 (2006). http://doi.org/10.1002/ejic.200501021
Abstract: The synthesis and structural characterisation of a new phase with nominal composition Bi4Mn1/3W2/3O8Cl is presented. Conventional and analytical transmission electron microscopy are used to determine the composition, unit-cell symmetry and space group of the compound, whereas a structural model is deducted by exit-wave reconstruction in the transmission electron microscope. This technique allows the microscope information limit of 1.1 angstrom to be reached and the (light) oxygen atoms in the presence of heavier atoms (Bi, W, Mn) to be imaged. The average structure is refined from Xray powder diffraction data using the Rietveld method yielding an orthorhombic unit cell with lattice parameters a 5.467(4) angstrom, b = 5.466(7) angstrom and c = 14.159(3) angstrom and space group Cm2m, which could be described as a Sillen-Aurivillius intergrowth. “Numerical modelling for a dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure in nitrogen”. Madani M, Bogaerts A, Vangeneugden D, , 53 (2005)
Abstract: In this paper we used a one dimensional fluid model, for the simulations of a Dielectric Barrier Discharge at atmospheric pressure. From the current and voltage profiles and the density profiles, we notice that two different regimes can be obtained in a uniform DBD. Furthermore a two dimensional flud model was developed and we describe how the gasflow can be included in such a model.

“Observation of paramagnetic supercurrent in mesoscopic superconducting rings and disks using multiple-small-tunnel-junction method”. Kanda A, Baelus BJ, Peeters FM, Kadowaki K, Ootuka Y, , 204 (2005). http://doi.org/10.1142/9789812701619_0032
Abstract: Responses of mesoscopic superconducting rings and disks to perpendicular magnetic fields are studied by using the multiple-small-tunnel-junction method, in which transport properties of several small tunnel junctions attached to the sample are measured simultaneously. This allows us for a direct experimental observation of the paramagnetic supercurrent, which is closely related to the paramagnetic Meissner effect. The results are compared with numerical results based on the nonlinear Ginzburg-Landau theory.
